We have continued on our way to the East Scotia Ridge, leaving behind the Antarctic Peninsula and the South Shetland Islands. Time for our team members to reflect on what we found in the Bransfield Strait, start writing the cruise report, and catch up on other work that - thanks to the wonder of modern communications - still manages to follow us here from home.
Although we have emerged from the shelter of the Bransfield Strait, for now the Drake Passage is relatively calm. As there are no science operations during passage other than running the multibeam sonar, we also had an emergency drill this morning, practising mustering with our lifejackets, using the firehose on the foredeck, and assembling at the lifeboats.
